Recipe for Orange Marmalade Sweet and Sour Sauce

What You Need

  • 1 can crushed pineapple and syrup
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup vinegar
  • 1 Tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 Tablespoons cold water
  • 2 Tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 cup orange marmalade

How to Make It

Using a large saucepan over a medium high heat setting, you will add the crushed pineapple and syrup, and then stir in the sugar, water, vinegar, and soy sauce. Stir to combine well and then bring the mixture to a boil.

Into a small cup you will add the cold water and cornstarch. Mix to blend together well and then stir this mixture into the hot pineapple mixture. Stir constantly while heating to a boil. Boil for about 2 minutes and then remove from heat. Allow this mixture to cool to room temperature and then stir in the orange marmalade or any other flavor of jam or jelly that you prefer for your sweet and sour sauce.

Cover the container with a tight fitting lid, aluminum foil, or clear plastic food wrap. Place the covered container in the refrigerator to chill until needed and then serve to family and friends.
