Here are some players to consider picking up if they’re on the
waiver wire in your fantasy football league:
Jacob Tamme, Tight End, Indianapolis Colts: If you thought
Tamme’s performance in Week 8 was a fluke, did his 11 catches
for 108 yards and a score in Week 9 convince you otherwise?
There’s a good chance somebody already picked him up, but if
not you’d better act quickly.
Jacoby Ford, Wide Receiver, Oakland Raiders: Ford has a
breakout game against the Chiefs, both on offense and special
teams. He’s one of the fastest players in the league and seems
to be developing some solid chemistry with Jason Campbell. With
Campbell getting a vote of confidence from Al Davis, there’s a
good chance that he continues to start, which makes Ford worth
Chester Taylor, Running Back Chicago Bears: Taylor vultured a
rushing touchdown from Matt Forte in Buffalo and I think we can
expect to see more of that. He got nearly as many carries as
Forte, though he did a lot less with them, so he’s worth the
add for anyone that needs running back help.
Troy Smith, Quarterback, San Francisco 49ers: Smith was solid
in his start against Denver and now has had two weeks to
practice with the first team following that game. He’s not
going to be an every week starter, but his running ability
makes him an interesting pickup.
Colt McCoy, Quarterback, Cleveland Browns: McCoy has actually
had two pretty solid fantasy days since being named the
starter. I think Eric Mangini is bluffing in his hesitance to
name Colt the starter moving forward, but it seems like an
Sidney Rice, Wide Receiver, Minnesota Vikings: Rice is back on
the practice field, though he probably won’t play until at
least Week 11. He might be active for Week 10, but either way
he’s worth the add.
Keiland Williams, Running Back, Washington Redskins: Williams
would be the main beneficiary if both Ryan Torain and Clinton
Portis were to miss Week 10. Williams is a good pass-catcher
and looked solid running the ball in Week 8 after Torain went
Tashard Choice, Running Back, Dallas Cowboys: This is more of a
gut feeling than anything else. Marion Barber is as done as
blackened chicken and Felix Jones just hasn’t performed. With
Jason Garrett taking over as head coach, he knows more is on
the line for his personal career. This could result in the team
running the ball more and Choice could see an increased role.
Don’t drop anyone decent for him, but if you’ve got some dead
weight you can cut, Choice is a good Hail Mary pickup.
Mike Goodson, Running Back, Carolina Panthers: With everyone
else in the Carolina backfield hurt, it looks like Goodson
could get the start. He’s a solid receiver, but how he’ll
handle regular carries remains to be seen.
James Jones, Wide Receiver, Green Bay Packers: Jones has all
the physical skills to sell NFL tickets, but mental errors and
drops have plagued his career. With Donald Driver hobbled,
though, he’s worth the pickup after a big Week 9 performance.
Blair White, Wide Receiver, Indianapolis Colts: With Austin
Collie missing at least one game and Anthony Gonzalez hurt,
White becomes the team’s number three receiver.
