They have many different reasons from getting healthy for the kids to achieving a fitness goal like running a 5k. However, far too many people, for one reason or another, lose steam before they even come near to reaching their weight loss goals. Life’s craziness and emotional issues can get in the way. Finances can be a factor, as can unsupportive or doubting friends and family members. No matter your reason for losing weight or your fitness budget, here are some weight loss tips to help you reach your goals.
Weight Loss Tip #1: Drink Up
Water, that is. Drinking water is never a bad idea, no matter your health of fitness goals. Drinking water before a meal can help you eat less and feel fuller before your meal begins. Water also rids your body of toxins that may be released as you exercise.
Weight Loss Tip #2: Record and Track Your Goals
Before beginning a fitness or weight loss program, it is a good idea to journal about your goals. Write down why this is your goal and how you are going to achieve it. On hard days and days you feel like quitting, this will help you to remember why you decided to lose weight in the first place. It is also wise to track your progress in your journal so you can see how far you have come, especially when you feel discouraged. You can also look back to see what is working for you to lose weight and what is not.
Weight Loss Tip #3: Reward Yourself
It is important to give yourself credit where it is due. Do not wait to celebrate until you lose every pound you want to. Divide your goals and successes into smaller measurements, such as 10 pound increments. Then reward yourself, but not with food! Get a massage, talk a walk with a friend, go to the mail, or even get a manicure or a pedicure. Rewarding your small successes will give you energy and enthusiasm to meet your larger goals.
Weight Loss tip #4: Distraction
If you are used to sitting down and eating while watching television, change your habits and distract yourself. Have a cup of herbal tea instead of that late night snack. Or better yet, get up and walk on the treadmill or do some other form of exercise while watching TV. Try changing up your habits to avoid falling back into pitfalls that got you where you are today.
